The Trajineras of Xochimilco

Mexico City’s “gondolas” through the canals of Xochimilco serve 2 primary purposes.  One is basic transport of goods and people from the numerous nurseries and greenhouses built along the banks of the canals.  The second use–these days much more common–is to function as a floating party decks for tourists and locals alike, complete with drink, food, and mariachi boats to keep the fiesta rolling.
